Sand filtration – continuous cleaning filters
BW is a continuous sand filter developed in collaboration with customers and is used, among other things, to filter and produce drinking water. Contact filtration on this type of filter is characterized by precipitating chemicals (aluminum chloride) added to the water so that flecks are formed in the sand filter which retain both organic and inorganic particles. The treatment is particularly suitable for reducing humus and/or iron, and normally gives a color number of less than 5 mg Pt/L and turbidity lower than 0.1 FTU.
Filter sand is continuously washed out into the drain, thus avoiding maturing water. Since the sand is constantly in motion, it requires high-quality materials to avoid wear and tear.
This type of filter solution is installed all over the world, and in many Norwegian municipalities. In collaboration with the manufacturer, Unik has the experience and equipment necessary to meet the customer’s requirements and expectations.
The continuous washing filter can be used for various cleaning processes.
Typical areas of use:
Municipal water works
- Color removal
- Particle reduction
- pH adjustment
Municipal treatment plants
- Polishing wastewater
Aquaculture
- Filtrating of intake water
- Recycling
Industry
- Polishing wastewater
Sand filtration – pressure less filtration
Filtration of fluids through filter sand is the most common and best-proven filtration method used for water purification. Sand filters purify water by gravitating or pumping the water through a tank filled with filter sand. The type of filter sand is determined by which raw water is to be filtered, and how fine filtration is desired and achieved.
Typical applications for pressure less filtration
Municipal water works
- Particle reduction
- pH adjustment
Municipal treatment plants
- Polishing wastewater
Aquaculture
- Filtration of intake water
- Recycling
Industry
- Polishing wastewater
Sand filtration – closed fine filtration
Fine filtration with glass as the filter mass is an alternative that reduces biological fouling in the filter mass and provides reliable filtration down to 2-5 my. Our supplier, Amiad, offers brand new, innovative and environmentally friendly technologies.
DVF (Double Vortex Filter) is a unique series of multimedia containers for industrial use with a patented vortex generator. It has a high filtration rate in a robust stainless-steel design, which enables longer filtration cycles, and resistance to microbiological contamination. DVF is DWI certified for drinking water standards.
DVF provides more efficient water filtration than what has previously been available. This is due to the unique double vortex intake which provides an outstanding removal of fine particles without the use of chemicals. An environmentally friendly and great product!
